CCJHD1 - HO HO HO Wall Hanging

This week for the Create with Connie and Julie Challenge we decided to focus on Home Decor. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to use the very sparkly Ho Ho Ho chipboard. The new On Board Ho Ho Ho Chipboard is so incredibly sparkly and bright in real life, the catalog just does not do it justice.

This piece will hang on the inside of my front door, I can share a little glitter with everyone who leaves! LOL

Christmas Pillow Box Bucket

There is a fantastic new tutorial over on SCS for a Pillow Box Bucket. This is an amazing project that gives us all another reason to need to have the Pillow Box die! You can find the great tutorial created by Lynn and Beate in the Resource Section.

For my Bucket I used products from the Christmas Jungle Simply Scrappin' Kit. The polka dot paper, the Real Red Textured card stock and the Adhesive Die Cuts can all be found in the Christmas Jingle kit.

I used a number of different ribbons on this bucket. I added some Double Stitched Chocolate Chip Ribbon to the base of the Bucket. I used the gorgeous Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon on the bag of marshmallows and a piece of 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to hold the tag in place.

I filled the bucket with two packs of hot chocolate, a bag of marshmallows and two candy canes. I really wish I had been more on the ball at my class in October. I should have taken a picture of all the fabulous buckets that the ladies created. As we all used different Adhesive Die Cuts each box was a little different.

2010 Desk Calendar

 Earlier this fall I saw a number of these fantastic desk calendars appear on SCS. I believe the original creator was Nancy Littrell. I thought they would be a perfect project for my Santa's Workshop classes. The idea behind these classes was to create gift items that my customers could make for their friends, family and coworkers. I wanted all the gifts to be easy to reproduce and inexpensive to make. This desk calendar fits the bill perfectly!

For this calendar I used only one stamp set, A Flower For All Seasons, one Pack of Designer Series Paper, Thoroughly Modern, one ink pad, Jet Black Stazon and three colors of card stock, Whisper White, Soft Suede and Basic Black.

 Each image was stamped on Whisper White card stock and cut out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. The larger circle was cut with the Circle Scissor Plus. The images were all colored in with Stampin' Write Markers.

The calendar was printed on Whisper White card stock and matted on some Basic Black card stock.

I used the Crop A Dile to punch out the holes which I threaded the Basic Black Gingham through.

The great thing about this calendar is that it can be easily mailed to friends and family that don't live close by. To package it up nicely all you need to do is decorate an envelope!

DVD Tin Notepad and Pen

This is another one of the projects that we made at the September Santa's Workshop Class. This DVD tin was inspired by the note card set and the clip board that I made back in July using the For All You Do stamp set and the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper. I just love using that set and paper together!

I purchased the DVD tins online. The notepads came from the Dollar Store. I have a huge stack of them as my dollar store was selling them last year for 50 cents a piece. The notepads are about an inch too long for the tins so I trimmed off about an inch from the bottom of the pad.

For the front of the tin I used Rich Razzleberry , Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and Whisper White card stock. The patterned paper is all from the Cottage Wall collection. The ribbon is the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon. Am I the only one that feels guilty when they cover up the Polka Dots on this gorgeous ribbon? LOL

I used some oval dies to cut the ovals. The flower stem was stamped with Old Olive Classic Ink. The flowers were stamped on scraps of Whisper White card stock and then cut out and placed on the stem using glue dots. I added the center of a Ice Rhinestone Brad to the center of each of the flowers.

The inside of the tin is very simple. I created a pocket on the left side to hold small receipts or notes. I also added a topper to the top of the notepad just to finish it off nicely. The final touch was the matching pen.

I think this would make a great gift for someone. Again, it is a very economical hand made gift for this holiday season.

Kind Thoughts Brocade Frame

 If you follow my blog you can probably tell that I am having an absolute blast using the new Stencils from Stampin' Up! I originally purchased the Kind Thoughts Brocade stencil. I loved the versatility of it so much that I quickly purchased the Vintage Ornaments I and II. I definitely see more of these fabulous stencils in my future! This frame uses the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil.

We made this project at my September Santa's Workshop Class. The frame is really easy to make, there are a number of steps involved but really nothing that is too difficult. I started out by painting the frame with a dark Chocolate Acrylic paint. I needed a couple of coats to get a nice even finish.

Once the paint was dry I placed the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil on top of the frame. I used a Palette Knife to spread some Stencil Paste over top of the stencil. I had lots of peaks and valleys in the stencil paste to create extra texture. I then let the stencil paste dry for about an hour.

The next step was to sponge on some Brocade Blue Classic Ink on top of the Stencil Paste. I also added in a little Chocolate Chip Classic Ink to cover up the places where the stencil moved a bit. I bet you didn't know that ink covers everything! What the ink doesn't cover glitter will! This brings me to the next step. I went over all of the stencil paste with the two way glue pen and then I added Dazzling Diamonds to the frame. The Dazzling Diamonds was the perfect finishing touch!

Here Becki, is doing her best Vanna White impression showing off her frame. You will notice the frame is a different size than my sample. Here's a tip for you, never go to the store to buy supplies when you are tired, you will end up buying the wrong size frames!

Liz, opted to use one of the flourishes from the Vintage Ornaments I collection with the Bashful Blue Classic Ink. It turned out just gorgeous!

The great thing about these frames, not only are they fun to make but they also make great, inexpensive gifts for family and friends this holiday season.

Chocolate Nugget Tin

  These Chocolate Nugget Tins have become a real favorite with family and friends. I have been making them for the past few years for gifts and for craft shows and everyone loves them. For this years tins I used the gorgeous paper in the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper collection.

I wrap the side of the tins with a skinny strip of the Red and White flocked paper. The side of the top of the tins were wrapped in Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon. The belly band was make from Real Red Textured card stock and the snowflake paper from the Christmas Cocoa paper. I added a large bow made with the Whisper White Organza Ribbon. The tag was created using the Ovals Sizzix die and the Christmas Punch stamp set. The final touch for the Belly band was the Shimmery White snowflake that I cut using the Stampin' Up! Merry Details Sizzlit.

The nuggets on the inside were wrapped with the gorgeous Red and White flocked paper. Don't they look just yummy? A note of caution, if you do decide to use the flocked paper to wrap the nuggets please be aware that you will need an extra strip of Sticky Strip to hold them together. The flocked paper does not seem to like sticking to itself!

PPA13 - Gift Box

I finally had a chance to enter the PPA Challenge this week. It has been a week or two since I have been able to participate but I have a project to share with you today that fits the bill just perfectly.

I have been having so much fun creating projects with the Magnetic Gift Boxes that can be found on page 33 of the Holiday Mini Catalog. In the mini these boxes look pretty plain but you can spruce them up in a number of ways. For this particular project I have used a stencil from the Vintage Ornaments I pack, a little Stencil Paste, some ink and Shimmer Paint to create a great gift box.

I started out by laying the stencil that I wanted to use on the top of the box. Using a Palette Knife I spread some Stencil Embossing Paste over the stencil. I made lots of swirls and peaks with the knife as I wanted to add lots of texture to the box. I removed the stencil and set the box aside to dry for about an hour or so. Once the paste was dry, I added some Brocade Blue Classic Ink to the stencil paste using a Sponge Dauber. I then brushed over the ink with the Champagne Shimmer Paint. This looks absolutely gorgeous in real life! I know I keep saying it, but the shimmer paint just does not show up well in photos!

I added a piece of the gorgeous Chocolate Chip Striped Ribbon and a tag. The greeting on the tag was stamped with Chocolate Chip Ink and the edges were sponged with Creamy Caramel Classic ink. I then brushed with the Champagne Shimmer Paint over the tag.

CCJCSC1 Colorful Snow Challenge

It's Saturday and time for another Create with Connie and Julie Challenge!  This time the challenge for our Create with Connie and Julie subscribers is to create a card, or a scrapbook page or a 3D items using snowflakes in any color but white.   I can't wait to see what inventive colors they come up with for their snowflakes. Our prizes for this week will include the Serene Snowflake Stamp Set, Icicle Rub Ons and Snowfall Window Sheets.

My card for today features one of my favorite new Stampin' Up! products, the Vintage Ornaments Stencils. This particular stencil is from the Vintage Ornaments II collection. These stencils are so much fun to work with.

For this card I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock. I laid the stencil on top and using a Sponge Dauber, inked it with Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink. I then stamped the snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes stamp set with Encore Silver Ink. The ornament was then cut out with Paper Snips. I finished off the ornament with a little Silver Cord.

I used Rich Razzleberry and Brushed Silver card stock for the rest of the card. The top piece of Brushed Silver card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Flourish Texturz plate. I added some extra detail to the card with a little paper piercing and the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon. The sentiment comes from the fabulous Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Penguin Snow Globe

I had seen a number of snow globe cards out there and I wanted to try one myself. I was really surprised at how easy the card came together.

I started out cutting circles, a larger one in Brushed Silver card stock and three smaller circles, all the same size, in Whisper White, Brocade Blue and a Snowfall Printed Window Sheet. The larger Silver circle was cut in half and used as the base.  I tore off the bottom of the White circle to create the snow. I brushed this piece of card stock with Frost White Shimmer Paint and then embossed it with Iridescent Ice. That's right, I said embossed using the Shimmer Paints. I found that I was able to use the Shimmer Paints as a base for embossing. You have to work quite quickly as the Shimmer paint dries so fast but it can be done and the effect is gorgeous!

The penguin from the Punch Pals stamp set, was stamped on a piece of Whisper White, colored with Stampin' Write markers and cut our with paper snips.  All that was left to do was layer the pieces. To attach the window sheet I used two glue dots, one at the top and one at the bottom. I absolutely hate to see any adhesive on my cards so I covered the two glue dots with a piece of Red Gingham Ribbon at the top and the Modern Label at the bottom.

October Tour de Freaks Blog Tour

  Welcome to the October Tour de Freaks Blog Tour! We are so glad that you could join us today. The ladies have been stamping up a storm to bring you some fabulous Christmas Cards. You may have just arrived from Gretchen Barron's Blog. I bet you loved her cards, she is so talented!

The first card I want to share with you tonight is my juggling walrus. It must be all those trips to Sea World or something, but as soon as I saw this stamp all I could picture was the Walrus juggling the hats. LOL Yes, I am a bit crazy!

  I stamped the walrus using Soft Suede Classic ink on to Whisper White Card stock. I then did a little masking and stamped the ice. I added a little Dazzling Diamonds to make the ice extra sparkly. Using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the hats in Real Red, Sahara Sand and Soft Suede. I then sponged some Sahara Sand Classic Ink around the edges of the circle to soften up the image.

The gorgeous paper is from the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper collection. I can't tell you how many packs of this paper I have already gone through! I just love the color combinations and the modern designs.

As my regular customers all know, I love to stamp Christmas Cards in non traditional colors. For this next card I used Almost Amethyst, Bashful Blue and Brushed Silver. I love the wintery feel you get from the Bashful Blue Trees.

I stamped the trees from the Patterned Pines Hostess set, in Bashful Blue Craft Ink. I then embossed them using Iridescent Ice embossing Powder. I cut the trees out and placed them on a piece of Almost Amethyst card stock that had been cut with the Top Note die and stamped with Whisper White snowflakes. This was layered on a piece of Brushed Silver card stock.

The background piece of Bashful Blue card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Paisley Texturz Plate. The paisley on this plate match the paisley on one of the trees just perfectly.

I finished off the card with a piece of Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon and a piece of Silver Cord. The round sentiment came from the Punch Pals stamp set and the little snowflake inside the sentiment came from the Delightful Decorations set. Both were stamped with Craft ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

The last card I have to share with you today is a trifold card. These look really hard to make but they are actually surprisingly easy. There is a great tutorial on SCS that I would suggest you follow if you would like to make one.

For the front of the card I used the Snowflake die with some Shimery White card stock. I added some bling to the snowflakes with the jewels from the Clear Rhinestone Brads. I placed the snowflake onto a piece of the Snowfall Printed Window Sheets and a piece of Taken with Teal card stock. Both were cut out with the Circle Scissor Plus. The scallop circle was cut with the large Scallop Circle die.

The inside of the card has various snowflakes that I cut with a number of different snowflake dies. The sentiment comes from the Merry & Bright Rub Ons. The White Rub Ons just look so crisp on the Taken with Teal card stock. The ovals were cut with the Ovals die.

 I used a number of different patterns of paper here, all were from the Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper Pack. I really do love this paper! LOL
