Krumping, ever heard of it? Nope, me neither! lol This weeks theme for the MFT So You Think You Can Stamp Contest was Krumping - Bling it out and make it shout! I googled Krumping and I was still confused - I guess that just means I am getting old! lol Here's the definition from Wikipedia -
Krumping is an urban street dance form characterized by free, expressive, exaggerated, and highly energetic moves involving the arms, head, legs, chest, and feet.Kelli Jo put up a link to some U-tube videos, the videos made me feel even older, but at least I had a clue what krumping was! In the videos they showed a group of people standing around one or two people who were krumping/dancing in the middle of the group. From this I got the idea to use MFT's Monsters Ink stamp set. The monsters are all standing around watching the one monster who is krumping. See how his legs and arms are moving wildly?
Kim said to make the card shout so I decided to go for a very bright color palate. I started out by selecting Basic Grey's Lime Rickey paper. The colors and patterns in this pack were just perfect for this card. All the paper on this card other than the Pink Passion card stock are from the Lime Rickey Collection.
I wanted to get a general feel for the card layout so I stamped all the monsters on a piece of light blue paper. I then stamped all the monsters again on different colored pieces of paper. I cut them all out and added them to the light blue paper. The monsters are all at different heights to give the card some depth. The main krumping monster was done with the paper tole technique. I stamped him on three pieces of patterned paper and used dimensionals and pop up glue dots to add height to different parts of his body. As you can see from the picture above he is pulling in his stomach and pushing out the rest of his body. I am sure there is a technical dance term for this but I don't have a clue what it is! LOL
I used a square chipboard frame to make my stage. I covered it with some patterned paper and inked the edges with a Brilliant Blue marker. I added some of the gorgeous Swarowski Crystals from MFT to bling out my card. I finished off the card by adding the sentiment banner and adding one more monster to the inside of the card.
This was a really fun challenge, this card is not my normal style at all! Don't forget to head on over to the MFT forum on SCS to check out all the fabulous entries this week.
