It's New Years Eve!!!!

Well, technically it's New Years Eve Day, but it's close enough! lol I hope you all have a fun and a safe night! I am looking forward to spending the night stamping! After years of working in the hospitality industry, nothing sounds better on New Years Eve than spending a quiet night at home!

I for one, am really looking forward to saying goodbye to 2009! It was an unusual year and I am ready for a new one! 2010 is already shaping up to be a much better year!

Let's Get Digi With It!

It's time for this weeks Wednesday stamp club in the MFT forums on SCS. This weeks theme is all about Digital! Did you know that MFT carries digital stamps, papers and templates? All of them are very affordable and easily accessible. Now, I have to admit this was the first time I have played with a digital stamp!

My printer is a bit finicky about what paper it will accept. Most card stock is too thick for my printer but thankfully Whisper White will go through without getting stuck! I downloaded Stephanie Fizer's A Scarf For Three Image. I absolutely love this stamp set and it was great to be able to download and enlarge the image! I printed off four of the same sized image, I believe it was 3 1/2"x 5". Four of them fit just perfectly on a page. This would be a great way to economically create a set of matching cards for someone! I colored in the image using Prisma Color Pencils and Gamsol. I must admit that my Prisma Color Pencils have been very neglected since I found my Copics! I am so out of practice with the pencils that I felt like a little kid coloring again! I did use my Copics to add a little shade to the snowmen.

The patterned paper is part of the Chocolate Kiss Collection, so is the button. For card stock I used Close to Cocoa and Bubblegum. The yummy polka dot ribbon is from May Arts. The sentiment is from the A Scarf For Three stamp set. I love that I can combine the digital images with the actual stamp set.

Mojo Monday 119

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas spent with family and friends. I had a fabulous Christmas this year. It was very quiet, jut my immediate family. As much as I enjoy getting together with everyone in the family, it was really nice not to have a house full of people this year. I've been a stamping fool the past few days getting ready for the MFT January release and for the launch of the Create with Connie & Julie site. There will definitely be lots happening on my blog over the next few weeks so stay tuned for all the fun and excitement!

 I decided to take a bit of a break from my other stamping and play with the Mojo Monday Sketch for this week. These sketches really do get your Mojo going!

My card for today is a very unusual color palette! I decided that I wanted to use some of my older Basic Grey Paper. I choose the Perhaps pack. I paired it with Bravo Burgundy and Barely Banana card stock from Stampin' Up! I was stamping with a friend who has all sorts of goodies from the new Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog, so I borrowed her Vintage Vogue stamp set. I am loving this stamp set!

I stamped the images in Cranberry Crisp, Bravo Burgundy and Going Grey Classic Ink. The F was stamped twice and the second image was popped up with dimensionals. The flower was also stamped twice, I curled the edges of the flower petals on the top flower and I finished it off with a Grey Corduroy Button. I added some paper piercing and some gorgeous ribbon for the finishing touches.

WSC 12.22.09 - Magical Mushroom Template

Seriously, how cute is this little mushroom card? It is definitely the first mushroom card that I have ever made! This week for MFT's weekly Wednesday Stamp Club, Kim is providing everyone with a mushroom template! This is a magical little template as it can be used to create a mushroom or as fairy wings! Take a quick peek at Kim's Blog to see what she designed and to download the template!

I have one of those really finicky printers that only likes plain, thin, White copy paper, so I printed the template on a piece of copy paper. I then cut it out and traced it onto the Wild Saffron paper from K & Company. I just adore this paper collection and yet this is the first time I've used it!  I actually traced the template on to two different prints from this collection as I wanted to use one for the outside and one for the inside.

For the stumps I cut out two pieces of the Brown floral paper at 2"x 2 1/2", and two pieces of the light Blue paper at 2"x 2 1/2". I attached one of the floral stumps to the front of the mushroom. I then added the stump on at the back of the mushroom making sure that the stumps were even and straight.

I then added the light Blue patterned paper to the inside of the mushroom. I carefully lined up these pieces on top of the Brown floral pieces. I then took the second mushroom that I had cut and placed it over top of the light Blue stumps. This worked out really well for two reasons, one it covered up the lined yellow paper that really didn't go with the whole mushroom theme, and it made the inside look as finished as the outside, which is always a good thing! 

The little cutie, Fairy Girl, is of course another sweet image from MFT's Pure Innocence line. I stamped her on a piece a Perfect Paper Panel and colored her with Copics. I added a little Star Dust Stickles on to her wings and her shoes. I added a little flower bling for her wand and I added a few guests to the mushroom! These are all from K & Company's Wild Saffron collection.

Mojo Monday 118 - Cold & Cuddly

I know you are all going to be shocked by this, I actually stamped the Mojo Monday card on a Monday! This weeks sketch is Mojo Monday 118. It is a quick and easy sketch to work with during this busy week before Christmas.

I stamped the little penguin from the Cold & Cuddly stamp set on Whisper White card stock. The fun paper is from K & Company's Peppermint Twist Collection. I have really been having some fun with the unusual Christmas colors in this collection.

The yummy Plaid Ribbon is  MFT's Perfect Plaid Ribbon. I can't tell you how many packs of this ribbon I have gone through in that last year! The only color that I don't seem to use that often is the yellow. I'll have to work on that! The fun Red trim is from We are Memory Keepers. I added a little bit of paper piercing and the Doily Edger Punch from Martha Stewart. The sentiments come from Stampin' Up!'s A Cardinal Christmas.

  I hope everyone is taking a little time to enjoy the holiday season! I know it can be a busy and stressful time of year.

Mojo Monday 117 - My Balloon

Yes, I know it is Friday and I am just getting to the Mojo Monday sketch. It has just been one of those weeks! lol Believe it or not, I actually won one of the prizes last week in the Mojo Monday 116 Sketch! How exciting is that! I have a wonderful new Verve stamp set on it's way to my house! Too much fun!

For this weeks Mojo Monday 117 sketch, I decided to ink up one of the new Pure Innocence sets that I haven't had a chance to play with yet, Balloon Girl. These girls are really just way too cute and they are perfect for paper piecing! I stamped this little cutie on a Perfect Paper Panel and on a few patterns of paper from the Basic Grey Lemonade paper. I colored the image with Copics and then paper pieced her dress.

The balloon on the stamp is only half a balloon and I wanted a full one so I created one! To create the balloon, I stamped the image on a piece of Lemonade paper, I then stamped the image again upside down just above the first image. I used a Black marker and connected the two images to make a full balloon.

For card stock I used MFT's Sour Apple and Stampin' Up!'s Regal Rose. The yummy ribbon is all from My Favorite Things. The button is from the Summer Collection. I finished off the card with some paper piercing on the circles,the card front and the inside.

Exciting News!!!!

Did you see my exciting news? I am now a member of the My Favorite Things Design Team!!!!!! I am beyond thrilled to join this talented group of women! I LOVE all the MFT stamp lines and I just adore all the MFT ladies! This truly is a dream come true!

I'll be a busy stamper over the next few weeks getting ready for the new MFT release and the Create launch. I don't know about you, but I can't think of a better way to spend my days!

I'll be back tomorrow with a card or two. I've been out at my parent's place for the last few days and I am just dying to get some stamps inky again!

Copper Dasher

 

  My week of combining challenges continues! For this card I combined the SCS Color Challenge CC248 with Mercy's MTSC51 Sketch Challenge. I loved Mercy's sketch, the color combination on the other hand was a bit more difficult to work with! Always Artichoke, Barely Banana, and Rich Razzleberry! I love the Always Artichoke and Rich Razzleberry together, it's just the Barely Banana that was throwing me off!

I stamped the always fun Dasher, using Versamark ink on a piece of Always Artichoke card stock. I used some Classy Copper embossing powder to emboss the image. The patterned paper is from the To the Nines Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. I added a few Copper brads along with three Always Artichoke brads. I also added a little paper piercing for that extra touch.

  For the inside of the card I used some more To the Nines Specialty Designer Series Paper, a little Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot ribbon and the sentiment from the Cardinal Christmas stamp set.

I think I actually did quite well following the sketch this time! My main panel isn't exactly how it is in the sketch but all in all I think it was pretty close!

Combining Challenges

There are so many wonderful stamping challenges out there that I could easily stamp one or two card every day of the week and I still wouldn't be able to participate in all of them! Today I combined two of these fun challenges. The SCS258 Sketch Challenge and the CTD72 Color Challenge. 

I know, I bet you are shocked to see another card made with a MFT Pure Innocence stamp!  This little cutie is from the Flurry of Love set. I seriously can't get enough of them! I stamped the image on a Perfect Paper Panel using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I then colored the image with Copics. I added a little bling by adding Star Dust Stickles to the snow. 

For card stock I used Riding Hood Red, the patterned paper is from K & Company's Peppermint Twist Collection. I added some snowflake ribbon from American Craft, a few felt snowflakes from Stampin' Up! and Sugared White Brad from Doodlebug Designs.

I used the same paper, ribbon and embellishments on the inside of the card. The cute sentiment comes from another Pure Innocence stamp set, Presents For You.

MFT - Heart Stripes

Heart Stripes was one of the new Pure Innocence stamps that I have been dying to get inky but just haven't had the chance! I finally got to play with this cute image over the weekend. She is just too adorable! Kim currently has her in stock but these cuties are all selling out as quickly as Kim can get them in! I would recommend picking her up quickly!

I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a Perfect Paper Panel. I then colored her in with Copics. I placed the image on a scallop square of Chocolate Kiss Paper.  I added a few layers of Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose card stock and one more layer of Chocolate Kiss paper. I added some paper piercing around the card stock and along the Chocolate Chip scallops. The finishing touch was the fun bow made from the fabulous Pink Plaid Ribbon and the large Chocolate button from the Chocolate Kiss collection.

On the inside of the card I added some more Chocolate Kiss paper and a piece of the gorgeous Chocolate Kiss Ribbon. Do you get the feeling that I was in a Chocolate Kiss Mood when I made this card? lol
