MFT Teasers Day Two

Are you loving everything you have seen so far? This months MFT release is simply amazing! You won't want to miss any of the fabulous projects being shown today! Head on over to Kim's blog about 11:00am EST, she will have the full line up of designers that are participating in the teasers today.

I am featuring two fabulous new sets today, the new Amanda Baird set, Dance the Night Away and the new long awaited for Twisted Threesome set. A quick warning, Twisted Threesome may not be suitable for all viewers but those with a quirky, twisted sense of humor will love it! 

  Oh how I am loving this new image from Amanda Baird! She looks like she is ready to concur the world! The only problem is every time I look at this card I get the Lady in Red song in my head! lol

I stamped the image on an MFT Perfect Paper Panel using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Her dress was paper pieced from a piece of K & Company's Shimmery Red Smitten Paper. I added a few pearls from the Princess Pearl Collection and the yummy ribbon is from the Princess Sheer Ribbon Nest. The sentiments on this card both come with the Dance the Night Away set.

Now, are you ready to get a bit twisted? lol My next card features the same Dance the Night Away stamp set. I paper pieced her dress using some of Basic Grey's fabulous Origin's Collection. I used my all time favorite ribbon from MFT, the Royalty Collection. I don't know what it is about this ribbon but it ties perfectly every time you use it!

The large brad came from the Origin's Collection. It originally had a green rhinestone on it. I cut it off and added the Black Pearl. I've been falling back in love with my Hot Fix Applicator Tool. We had a falling out a few month's ago but after seeing Kim's video the other week, I figured I would give it another chance. Turns out I was pressing way too hard on it and that's why I was making such a mess of things. Now that we are back together I have a feeling you will be seeing a ton of crystals and pearls on my projects!

 She looks so fabulous and fine in her dress, my friends would think I was being wonderful and thoughtful giving them such a nice, classy card... then they would open it and know it really did come from me! lol

  My final card today is near and dear to my heart! LOL If I were married, I think I would make up a stack of them just so that I had one ready to go when the need arose!

 This fun sentiment was my contribution to the stamp set. I had seen it somewhere when I was out shopping and I couldn't stop laughing at it. You know how dumb you look when you are by yourself in the mall laughing? That was me, I seriously giggled about this saying for days! I am so thrilled that Kim ended up adding it to the new Twisted Threesome set! All the cute lovey stuff on the card is from K & Company's Smitten Collection.

MFT Teasers Day One - Love Birds and Basket Full 'o Flopsey

I know you are all excited that the teasers have finally started for this month's MFT Release! There is soooo much yumminess this month! I don't know if you all can handle it! lol If you would like to check out all the fabulous cards that the design team has created for you today, head on over to Kim's blog about 11:00am EST.  My first two cards today feature the fabulous Love Birds stamp set. This was available as part of a Kit a few months ago but it is now being released as a set. The images in this set are so cute! I just love how the smaller bird has her leg curled up and she is leaning in to the other bird! Too Sweet!

I stamped the images using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a White Perfect Paper Panel. The images were then colored with Copics. I'm not sure if you can see this or not, but the birds are actually puffed up on this card.

Here's how I puffed them up. After I had finished stamping, I flipped the paper over and I held it up against the light. I used a pencil to trace the outline of the birds on the back of the paper. I then placed the paper on my paper piercing mat, I used a Stylus and I pressed out the image of the birds. This gives it a bit of extra dimension but I wanted a bit more so I grabbed a cotton wool ball. I added a bit of glue to the back of the image and I filled it with some cotton. I covered the cotton with a piece of packing tape and then I placed the image on top of the patterned paper! It's a super easy technique and a great way to add dimension to a card!

For this card I used MFT's Hot Fudge and Sno Cone card stock, along with October Afternoon's Farm Fresh Designer Series Paper. The ribbons are both from MFT. The Edger Punch is from Martha Stewart.

  My next card has a completely different look and feel to it. I've used the same Love Birds stamp set but a different collection of papers. For this card I used the new Basic Grey Line, Sugar Rush. I am so thrilled that Kim is now carrying this in the store!I also used MFT's Sour Apple card stock.

If you joined us last month for the new release you saw some of Mel's amazing work. I was so inspired by her bead work that I had to try some on this card. I stitched seed beads around the edges of the label die. I love the texture and dimension this adds to the card!

Finally, I have a Flopsey card for you! Aren't you glad to see our old friend Flopsey back again? This months set Basket Full 'o Flopsey, is full of all sorts of treats. There are a number of options to fill Flopsey's basket with, I decided to go for the flowers. It will be months before we see flowers here in Calgary! lol

My color combination on this one is a bit bright but it definitely screams spring! I used MFT's Sour Apple card stock, along with Summer Sun and Lavender Lace. The patterned paper is October Afternoon's Farm Fresh. To add a touch of bling, I added some small Swarovski Crystals to the center of each flower.

CCJC4 - Kids Gift Packaging Challenge

It's time for another Create with Connie and Julie Challenge. Today's challenge is Kids Gift Packaging!

Now, kids gift packaging can really be a challenge! You want it to look good but you really don't want to spend that much time on it as it is likely going to be ripped apart in just a few seconds! lol I decided to do something a little different for my gift packaging. I wanted the packaging to be part of the gift. Hopefully it won't be thrown away right away! lol

I picked up a tin money bank at the dollar store. It was really ugly but I knew I was going to cover it so I wasn't worried. (Do you ever have the urge to go back into the dollar store just to show the clerk what you made with the ugly stuff you buy there?)

I covered the tin with some Tall Tales Designer Series Paper. For a little decoration, I added some Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon to the top and the bottom of the tin. The center panel of the tin was full of colorful monkeys from the Fox & Friends stamp set. The monkeys were stamped in Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and So Saffron. I used the fabulous new Scallop Trim Border Punch with a piece of Melon Mambo Textured card stock for that extra little detail.

I created a tag using the Stampin' Up! Two Tags die. I really do love this die! It makes gift tags a breeze! I cut a tag out of Melon Mambo card stock and another out of Tall Tales Designer Series Paper. I trimmed around the Tall Tales tag along the perforated edge to create the perfect layer for the tag. I stamped a few extra monkey and added them to the tag. The sentiment on the tag comes from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Inside the money bank I have I have placed another little tag I created using the Stampin' Up! Two Tags die. This is where the real gift is hidden! This tag is the perfect spot to house a little cash! The great sentiment on the tag comes from the Well Scripted stamp set.

I placed the money tag inside the money bank and then placed the money bank in a cello bag. I tied it up with a piece of Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon. I thought it was a colorful and fun way to package up some cash. Hopefully, they will use the money bank to save some pennies!

CCJC3 - Sketch Challenge

It's Saturday and you know what that means ... it is time for another Create with Connie and Julie Challenge! For this weeks challenge my very talented partner, Connie Babbert, designed a wonderful sketch for us to play with. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

This week on the site we are featuring the Vintage Vogue stamp set. I absolutely adore this set and I love the card that I created with this sketch! I know, it's probably in poor taste to talk about how much you love a card that you made, but I really do love this card! LOL

I decided to pair the Vintage Vogue stamp set with the Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper. I think they go together wonderfully!I started out by stamping the the F and two of the flowers on Kraft card stock using Not Quite Navy Classic Ink. I used some Creamy Caramel Classic Ink and sponged around the edges of the F and the flowers. I also sponged around the edges of all the Bella Bleu Designer Series paper. I think the sponging really helped to give the card that vintage look.

I curled up the edges of the flower petals, to do this I used the end of the Paper Piercing tool and just rolled the petals around that. I finished off the flower with a yummy Kraft Corduroy Brad.

I added lots of paper piercing to the card. I always think the paper piercing takes a card up a notch or two. It gives it that finished look. I then added some Vintage Brads and some Kraft Taffeta ribbon.

On the inside I added another flower, some Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper and some Kraft Taffeta Ribbon. Doesn't the stamped image on the inside of the card work just perfectly?

Mojo Monday 122

 It's time for another Mojo Monday Sketch! If you haven't checked out the Mojo Monday weekly sketch yet you really should! It's a great way to get your Mojo going!

For my card today I used the I (Heart) Hearts stamp set and the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. The hearts were stamped on Very Vanilla card stock using Real Red and Pretty in Pink Classic Ink. The sentiment came from the Well Scripted stamp set, it was stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on a piece of Pretty in Pink card stock. The sentiment was then punched out using the Curly Label Punch. I added a bit of Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and a Pretty in Pink Corduroy button. The heart punch I used along the side is from Martha Stewart.

I added a few elements to the inside of the card. Once again I left off the sentiment as I like to add that at the last minute, just before I give someone the card.

CCJC2 - Color Combination Challenge

Our Challenge this week on the Create with Connie & Julie site was a color challenge. Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Real Red. It's a yummy color combination that you really can't go wrong with!

I used the With All My Heart stamp set along with the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. I am in love with both of these items and with all the accessories that come along with them!

I stamped the flowers using Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Real Red Craft Ink on to Very Vanilla card stock. I embossed the images using Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I then carefully cut out each flower. I stamped and embossed the sentiment in the same way, only I used Regal Rose card stock.

The fabulous tag that the sentiment is stamped on comes from Stampin' Up!'s Lots of Tags Sizzlit pack. To create the Chocolate Chip layer I simply cut out two of these tags in Chocolate Chip card stock and placed them behind the Pretty in Pink tag. I cut one of the flowers in half and added it behind the tags for that extra little pop of color!

I used three different prints from the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper pack on this card. I really wish you could see all the wonderful shimmer and shine this paper has! The glitter is just fabulous! Speaking of fabulous, did you notice the yummy Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and the new Sending Love Epoxy Brads? Wow, how fabulous are they!!!

MFT Tweeny Tween

 If you were at the MFT release party the other week you caught a glimpse of this card. It's my first Christmas card for 2010! lol I'm hoping to make a few a month over the next few months. Yes, I am trying to avoid that inevitable Christmas rush!

Tweeny Tween- Frosty Friends is a fun new stamp set from MFT's Pure Innocence line. She's funky and fabulous, but like all the Pure Innocence stamps she is still super cute! I used last weeks Sketch Challenge on SCS as my starting point. The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on a Perfect Paper Panel. I colored the image with Copics and paper pieced the hat and scarf. I added some Dazzling Diamonds to her scarf and hat for that little bit of bling.

For card stock I used Gumdrop Green and Sno Cone from MFT. The yummy patterned paper is Eskimo Kisses from Basic Grey. I finished off the card with some felt snowflakes, a stitched button from Basic Grey and some yummy Red Perfect Plaid Ribbon.

Vintage Vogue Challenges

My post today is all about Vintage Vogue and a few of my favorite challenges. I had some time to stamp last night so I participated in a few different challenges, I used Vintage Vogue for all three cards. Even though I used the same stamp set on each card, I think they all have a different feel to them. The ability to use the same stamp to create a completely different card is one of the things that I love about stamping.

  My first challenge card is for this weeks Color Throwdown challenge. Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry and Mellow Moss! This color combination really was a challenge for me! I don't think I ever would have come up with this one! lol

I used some Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper along with Mellow Moss, Garden Green and Rich Razzleberry card stock. The images were stamped on Whisper White card stock using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink. I added some texture to the card with the Stampin' Up! Perfect Dots Textured Impressions Folder. The final touches were some Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon and a button from the Button Latte collection.

My second card was created based on the SC263 Sketch Challenge For this card I used Rose Red and Kraft card stock and the patterned paper is Thoroughly Modern. The flower was stamped using Rose Red Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock. The Kraft Corduroy button was the perfect fit for the center of the flower.

The sentiment comes from the new Well Scripted stamp set. I used some Rose Red Double Stitched Ribbon and Kraft Taffeta Ribbon to finish off the card.

I wanted to use something in the center of the flower on the inside of the card, but I couldn't come up with anything that was Kraft and flat.

 

My final card is my favorite of the three. I created this card for the SCS Color Challenge CC253 The colors for this week were Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzleberry! WOW, what a combination, I just love the way these three colors look together!

I stamped the flowers using the Rock and Roll technique with Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink. The edges of the flowers were curled up slightly. I used a Chocolate Chip 5/16" brad in the center of each flower. The yummy patterned paper is from the  To The Nines Specialty Designer Series Paper.  For card stock I used Rich Razzleberry and Pretty in Pink Textured card stock and Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink.

 

I really enjoyed playing with Vintage Vogue tonight. It is my favorite stamp set in the new Occasions Mini! Next week on Create with Connie and Julie, we will be featuring Vintage Vogue. MFT Wednesday Stamp Club

It's time for another MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge! This week Kim sent us all a real challenge! To create simple birthday cards that involved no coloring!!! Say what??? To see the fabulous and fun cards Kim created check out Kim's Blog. She also has a fun video posted today that you will want to check out.

 As a girl who is always up for an MFT challenge, I stamped four simple birthday cards and a matching tin. Each card was designed exactly the same, only the colors, the patterned paper and the stamps were different. I used Sugar Rush paper for all of  the cards and the tin. This paper is so yummy and guess what... you can now buy it at MFT! 

I stamped all of the images using Going Grey Classic Ink, this gave the cards a much softer look and feel than the usual Black or Brown. I used a number of different Pure Innocence sets, Apple For You, Flower Girl, Heart Stripes, Fairy Girl and Balloon Girl (currently sold out). Each of the Pure Innocence Girls had a heart somewhere on their clothing so I used a little bit of Stickles on those hearts to add a bit of bling.

Along the right edge of each card I used a Martha Stewart Punch. I then took a piece of Sugar Rush paper and used the same punch along the right hand edge. This paper was placed on the inside right edge of the card. You can see the paper along the side of the card when the card is closed and once you open the card you can see the punched edge. Its a really quick little trick to give your card that extra wow factor.

Each card was finished off with the Birthday Girl sentiment and a button from the Sugar Rush Collection. I then decided that my envelopes needed a little something as well. I took a small piece of Sugar Rush paper and used the same Martha Stewart punch along the edge. I placed the small strip of paper on the left hand side of the envelope. It's a quick and easy way to customize your envelopes.

My tin is one of the DVD tins that are available from MFT. I love this size of tin because I can create a fun set of 3 1/2" x 5" cards and matching envelopes to fit in the tin. The set of cards and matching envelopes in a gift tin makes a great little gift for someone.

Mojo Monday 121 - Coffee? Tea?

It's time for another Mojo Monday Sketch! I've really been missing my mojo the last few days so I definitely needed the sketch! We have had just beautiful weather this past week as one of our famous Chinooks has been visiting us. While I love the warmer weather I always seem to get a headache when we get a Chinook! Something to do with the changes in the atmospheric pressure that comes with the Chinook. All I know is that it is cutting in to my stamping time!

For my card today I started with the Coffee? Tea? stamp set from MFT. I am a huge tea junkie so this set is right up my alley. It even comes with a polka dot tea cup, how could I not love this set? lol

I stamped the image on a Cream Perfect Paper Panel, that's right, MFT is now carrying their gorgeous Perfect Paper Panels in Cream! I colored the image with Copics and then I paper pieced her dress. I used the yummy Nook & Pantry paper from Basic Grey. For card stock I used Sage Shadow and Chocolate Chip. The ribbon is from an older Stampin Up! Ribbon Originals Pack.

Hopefully my headaches will end shortly and I can get back to stamping!
