Here is the tutorial I promised for the Circle Flip card! I received a card like this in a swap a number of years ago. I adored the card and so I had to deconstruct it to figure out how to make it.
I've got lots of pictures for you and step by step instructions. I hope you enjoy it!
Take a piece of 8 1/2"x11" card stock, score it at 5 1/2" along the 11" side. Score it at 4 1/4" along the 8 1/2" side.
Lay the card stock down so that the 11" sides are horizontal. In the top left hand section of the card stock use a pencil and mark the center of that quarter. The mark should be down 2 1/8" and across 2 3/4'.
Take the largest circle from the Standard Circle Small set of Nestabilities. It measures close to 3 1/2" in diameter. Using the mark you just created as a guide, center the circle in the top left had section. Secure the die in place using small pieces of tape placed on the inside of the circle.
Fold the card stock in half along the 5 1/2" score line. Place the folded card stock into the Big Shot. Make sure the die is facing down and will only be cutting through one piece of the card stock.
Once you have cut out the circle, lay the card stock down flat. Depending on your die cut machine you may get a circle imprint on the right hand side of the card stock from the die. Don't worry if you get this, it won't affect the card.
On the right hand side of the card stock, using a ruler and a pencil, draw a line 1/2" over from the 5 1/2" score line and another 1/2" from the end of the paper. If you are measuring from the left hand side of the paper these lines would be drawn at 6" and 10 1/2".
Measure 2" from the center score line and draw a line that connects the two vertical lines you just drew. Do this on both the top half and the bottom half of the paper.
Fold the card stock in half along the 5 1/2" score line.
Using a hobby blade cut out the top half off the circle. Use the precut circle as a guide for cutting along the curve. You may use a paper cutter to cut along the straight line. Your paper should now look like this.
Use a ruler and a hobby blade, or a paper cutter, and cut along the two vertical line you drew. You only want to cut the lines in between the two horizontal lines that you drew. Each cut will be 4" long.
At this point, I like to fold the card in half and fold along all the score lines. I do this to make sure everything lines up properly. It just seems to make it easier once you are ready to adhere it.
If you want to stamp the card stock this is the perfect time to do it.
Adhere Red Liner Tape or Scor Tape around the edges of the right side of the card stock. On the left hand side of the card stock adhere tape only around the top of the circle.
I can't tell you how many times I have put tape along the bottom of the card stock and I have to go back and start over!
I printed off a couple of soccer ball images from the web. I cut out two of them using the 3 1/4' Nestabilities Standard Circle Large die.
Use Red Liner tape or Scor Tape along the bottom part of the circle. Adhere the circle in place.
On my card I added a second soccer ball behind this circle. This is an extra step that you don't need to do but I think it adds that extra touch!
You can now decorate your card as you wish.
I used the adorable new PI set, I Get A Kick Out of You. I added some grass using the Die-namics Fresh Grass die and a bit of sunshine using the Die-namics Sunshine die. I used two Die-namics dies for the sentiment, the Die-namics Polka Dot Greeting die and one of the dies from the Die-namics Sweet Stack. I finished off the card with some Charcoal Twine!
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I will do my best to answer them! I'd love to see what you create with this tutorial, please leave me a link to your creation in the comments section!
