Each month the MFT Design Team is given a Creative Challenge, this month it's all about Mum! With Mother's Day right around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning and creating a special gift. I decided to create a topiary, I was inspired by a project that Barbara created a few weeks ago. Instead of using just one ball, I used three.
I used two styrofoam balls that were 1 1/2" and one that was 3". I covered each ball with flowers created with the Royal Rose Die-namics die. Thankfully, I have two of these dies so I wasn't cranking the Big Shot for hours! LOL
I attached the flowers using a glue gun. It was my first time using a glue gun, I was a bit nervous at first, but I didn't burn myself so it all worked out well! LOL
For this top ball I used the Puff Could White felt. I used three sheets of the felt for this one ball.
This is the largest ball. I used the gorgeous English Rose felt for the flowers. I used six full sheets for this ball. I was surprised at how many flowers it took to cover the ball. I did place them fairly close together as I didn't want any of the white to show through.
For the final ball I used Bubblegum felt. I really like how well these three colors of felt go together.
I used a small dowel rod to secure the balls together. Once the balls were in place I wrapped the rod with Hot Fudge Grosgrain ribbon. I used some Chocolate Satin ribbon for the bows.
